Our Travel Adventures - Cruising Fulltime

Welcome to the Adventures of Larry and Connie Farquhar as we cruise fulltime around the world.

Playing Tourists in New Mexico, Part 3

Caballo State Park, NM

After leaving Elephant Butte State Park, we headed to the Volunteer Travel Campsites (32.3774, -106.4913) located on the White Sands Missile Range (Army Post). This is a small, 8-site RV Park located on the main portion of the Army post. It's very quiet here, with wonderful views of the Organ Mountains. A pretty good deal for only $10 a night with full hook-ups. It's located between Las Cruces and...

Playing Tourist in New Mexico, Part 2

Our site at Elephant Butte State Park, NM

We've been fairly busy here at Elephant Butte State Park near Truth or Consequences in New Mexico. We got a nice site looking out over the lake, in the distance. There's plenty of "dry-camping" available, either in a developed site or just out in the desert. Some people are even camping out on long sandy points, just a few feet from the water. When we got here a couple weeks ago, it was getting do...

Playing Tourist in New Mexico, Part 1

Fort Bayard Officers Row, circa 1910

While staying at the Pancho Villa State Park in New Mexico, we spent the last 12 days relaxing, working a bit on the computers, and playing tourists. One day, we had a few road-runners chasing each other for hours. I think the female was going to eventually loose that battle. The state park has a nice, small museum explaining what happened in March 1916 with the raid by Mexican General "Pancho" Vi...

Biosphere 2, Arizona

Biosphere 2 near Oracle, AZ

We stayed in Quartzsite for only 20 days this year. When we left on February 5th, we decided to spend the next couple of months in southern New Mexico. We stopped for 3 days at the Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ family campground. This RV Park gets very busy during the winter months, as "snow birds" migrate south away from the cold snow. We were fine with staying in their dry-camp area. During our brief vi...

2019 Travels Begin

Our temporary home in Quartzsite, AZ

We don't like to make many reservations, as it forces us to stick to a schedule. We prefer the freedom to go and stay as long as want, changing plans as needed. A reservation prevents this. However, we know there are certain places and times of the year when a reservation is required. We just weigh our options and "might" make a reservation if it's a busy holiday and there's not many alternatives....

Winter 2018/2019 Adventures Begin!

View from Secrets Papagayo Resort, Costa Rica

Okay, I haven't been keeping this blog current, have I? It just seems there's no time to work on the blog. I have other (higher priority) tasks to get done first. Although Connie and I aren't working the summer of 2019, we still have "work" that needs to get done. We still work as independent contractors providing various computer, website and email services. I finally got caught up enough to work...

The Blog is Back!

Although we haven't been keeping this Blog active, we are still traveling full-time in our motor home. This blog isn't read much and has been replaced with "Facebook". Connie prefers to write her journal on Facebook. For the past couple years, nothing special has happened with us. We still worked in Colorado during the summer for about 6-months, then spent the winter 6-months in strolling around th...

Started Summer Jobs in Colorado

Connie and I have started our summer jobs in the White River National Forest in Colorado. This is our 10th year working with CLM Services. It's a great company to work for. Larry's an "Operations Manager" again and Connie is his "Administrative Assistant". We'll be here for about 5-6 months. We're staying in Heaton Bay Campground located on Lake Dillon, near Dillon and Frisco, CO. The lake is star...

Boondocking at the Trona Pinnacles

After leaving Seal Beach, CA, Connie and I headed to the Mojave desert for some peace and quiet away from the Los Angeles traffic. We had 2 weeks before we needed to be in the Sequoia National Forest for a manager's meeting for this summer's seasonal work. We had heard about boondocking (dry-camping) at the Trona Pinnacles on BLM managed land. So we decided to check it out. Located about 20 miles ...

Spending the month in Seal Beach, CA

Connie and I have been spending the past few weeks at the Naval Weapons Station in Seal Beach, CA. The Navy has a great RV Park on base. This has become our annual stop in March for a couple reasons: 1) We get to visit with Connie's parents and brother, and 2) we spend a lot of time working on software that we produce annualy for a client. We enjoy Southern California (we both grew up here), but g...
