Our Travel Adventures - Cruising Fulltime

Welcome to the Adventures of Larry and Connie Farquhar as we cruise fulltime around the world.

Alaska Trip - Week 2

After leaving Quesnel, we moved another 170 miles to the small town of Mackenzie (May 20th - 21st). We've been moving slowly, ensuring we enjoy the trip. Why drive all day, just to get exhausted? We may have some long stretches, but we're all much happier if we keep our journey to under 4 hours a day. Mackenzie is a little off the main route, 17 miles each way to be exact. But there were two reaso...

Our Alaska Trip Begins

Connie had a great time with daughter Leslie and grand-daughters Kaylee and Khloe at their "tea-party". We attended another soccer game with Khloe then spent our last day in the Seattle area making some final purchases for our Alaska trip. We left the Seattle area on May 12th and headed North to Arlington, WA. Using the Casino Camper website, we stayed a couple nights at the Angel of the Wind casi...

Exploring Pennsylvania

'll This past month has found us slowly moving North, towards Alaska. After we left Seal Beach, we spent a week at Fairways RV Park at the Naval Base in Port Heuneme, CA. We enjoyed our lazy stay there, visiting Point Mugu and catching up on some more computer work. After our week here, we moved a little further north to the California Army National Guard campground at Cam San Luis Obispo, CA...

Road Trip to Arizona

While staying at Borrego Springs, we tried to do some exploring. We took a day's off-road trip through MANY trails. The scenery was unique and interesting, but eventually we got tired of the bouncing around. Another day found us hiking from the Anza Borrego State Park visitors center to Palm Canyon. This was about a 5 mile hike. It was pleasant hiking up to the canyon on a relatively easy tra...

My First Dronie

My First Aerial Photo/Video

While boondocking near Borrego Springs, CA, I had a chance to experiment with my new 3DR Iris+ drone "quadcopter". One of the features of this system is the ability to make a quick "dronie". This is a "selfie" video made by the drone. Larry's brother, Rocky, came in to visit for the afternoon. Luckily, he had the necessary "GoPro" camera, which I haven't yet purchased. We hooked up the camera to t...

December 2006 Travel Log

After leaving Joshua Tree National Park, we headed over to Borrego Springs, CA. This small town is surrounded by the Anza Borrego California State Park. Friends were recently here and told us about the Sculptures of Ricardo Breceda scattered around the Galleta Meadows estate. These large sculptures are made of shaped metal welded together and are huge. They're mainly based on renditions ...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We've had a very relaxing week. After leaving Quartzsite, AZ, we moved a few hours West to Joshua Tree National Park. Instead of camping in the park, we stayed on BLM land just outside of the South entrance to the park. There's a free 14-day stay limit there. But we soon realized almost all of the "interesting" things to see in Joshua Tree NP is near the West or North entrances. This is over an ho...

Viewing Our Travel Map

After enjoying a New Year's Eve party in Yuma, and finishing up with dental work, we departed the Yuma Army Proving Grounds on January 11th. Our next stop was only 90 miles away. One of those much talked about RV events/destinations is Quartzsite, AZ. This small desert town near the Arizona/California border on I-10 comes to life each winter. Normally, there's only a population of about 500 reside...

A Month in Europe - What it Cost

Connie spends hours on Facebook and keeps her posting's there current. I was hoping she would also start using our own "Blog", but it looks like a lost cause. So it's up to me to "try" and keep this blog current. For the past few months, we've been having fun. Let's see if I can remember all that we've been doing: October: After leaving our summer jobs, we headed to Casa Grande for Conni...

Beer, Chocolate, and Waffles, Oh My!

Our summer job working in the Inyo National Forest, CA has come to an end. We left Mammoth Lakes a couple days ago and made our way to Casa Grande, AZ. We'll be here for about a week, then move to Apache Junction, AZ for the next month. After workamping every summer for the past 10 years, we're taking next summer off working full time to travel to Alaska. We've been working with California La...
