Our Travel Adventures - Cruising Fulltime

Welcome to the Adventures of Larry and Connie Farquhar as we cruise fulltime around the world.

December 2005 Travel Log

12/31/05: Panama City, FL: Happy New Year! I hope your past year has been as wonderful as ours. When we started traveling full time, we knew we would be moving slowly and enjoying life along the way. And move slowly, and enjoy life we did. In 2005, we drove the motorhome 9,280 miles visiting 22 different states. We parked our home in 36 different locations, spending from 1 night to 5 months in any...

November 2005 Travel Log

11/30/05: Mary Esther, FL: The other day, we had a "Boomer" fix! Bob and Nancy Colbert are friends we've met through the Escapee Boomers group. They noticed we were in Florida and they were passing this way. We met them for Brunch the other day and caught up on what we've each been doing. Seems they won't be going to Quartzsite this winter either. It's always great meeting old and new friends on t...

October 2005 Travel Log

10/31/05: Mary Esther, FL: Happy Halloween! You can tell by the above expenses for the month, it wasn't a cheap month! The constant drive from New York to Florida, with gas prices around $2.90/gal wasn't of much help. Currently, gas is down to $2.42. We can only hope it stays this low, or goes lower by the time we start moving again (slowly). Also, since we're not workamping for a free site, we ha...

September 2005 Travel Log

9/30: Lake George Escape Camping Resort: Just 9 days left here and we'll start moving again! These past few days were spent with some doctor appointments, and cleaning. The Jeep and motorhome both got a very thorough cleaning. Unlike other workampers here, we didn't get much sap from the pine trees. It felt pretty good to not have any schedule to stick to. We could sleep in and do what we wanted, ...

August 2005 Travel Log

8/27: Lake George Escape Camping Resort: Many of the workers are getting a little 'slap happy', since most of them are leaving next week. We hope we'll only be working a few days each week in September. This will give us time to visit some of the places we came here for. Niagara Falls, Montreal, and New Hampshire/Maine are on our list. Today we headed back North to a tourist spot, advertised as th...

July 2005 Travel Log

7/30: Lake George Escape Camping Resort. The Adirondack Wilderness is beautiful country. Growing up on the west coast, we never associated this type of mountains with New York state. Earlier this week, we toured the Adirondack Museum, located above Blue Lake. We walked the 32 acres of breathtaking scenery while exploring 22 exhibit buildings. There were displays and information on rustic Adirondac...

Fort Ticonderoga, NY

6/26: Lake George Escape Camping Resort, NY. The weather this past week has been great, and the water has gone down tremendously. Part of the RV park is still flooded, and about 100 sites won't be usable for the Fourth of July weekend. This means we'll have to cancel a bunch of families. I'm sure they won't be happy, but there's not much we can do to control Mother Nature. A couple days ago, we we...

Lake George Escape Workamping Site

5/31: Lake George Escape Camping Resort, NY. I know it's been awhile since I updated this journal, and even had a couple readers wondering if all is well with us. With us working about 40 hours a week each, there just hasn't been much exciting to report on. Memorial weekend was pretty busy here. Since we both work the reservation phones and reception counter, we were in the middle of the activity ...

April 2005 Travel Log

US Capital

4/30: Stow, MA. We arrived at Connie's sister's house a few days ago. We've been enjoying our visit with Ken & Michelle Fuller, parked in their driveway. Too bad it's rained almost everyday. We took a day to visit Salem, MA. Besides the normal "witch hunt" history, Salem played an important role in the creation of our nation with it's shipping and port. I didn't realize that the customs duty o...

March 2005 Travel Log

3/30: The other day, we took another scenic drive along the Florida coast to Destin, FL. It's spring break time for the schools and the roads were crowded! It was a beautiful sunny, but windy day. We observed more damage from the hurricane, especially along the outer islands. We also saw a new water sport (for us). Did you ever hear of "kite surfing"? Don't get this confused with wind surfing. As ...
