Our summer job working in the Inyo National Forest, CA has come to an end. We left Mammoth Lakes a couple days ago and made our way to Casa Grande, AZ. We'll be here for about a week, then move to Apache Junction, AZ for the next month. After workamping every summer for the past 10 years, we're taking next summer off working full time to travel to Alaska. We've been working with California La...
Our Travel Adventures - Cruising Fulltime
This is an update to the previous update Connie wrote. Would you believe that wasn't the end of being attacked by squirrels? We ended up "eliminating" 3 squirrels and a chipmunk INSIDE of the motor home. They had chewed through the heater ducting again AND through more furnace wiring! I had just repaired the damage and was putting it all back together again, when I heard a %$#@! squirrel in the he...
Happy Labor Day and thank you to all the hard working people who help make our lives a little easier. We haven't heard any negative reports from our area managers so I think all in all the busy, last hurrah of the summer, went off without a hitch and today was mass exodus for our campers. It was a beautiful day, it's our day off, let's go! We spent yesterday doing chores. As you know, Larry fixed ...
The other day, our rear gas furnace stopped working after a few minutes. The next time we used it, I realized it wasn't putting out any heat. During our days off, I thought I'd better take a look at it, before it gets real cold here. (BTW - the heater is a Suburban F35) Taking this heater out of the motor home involves removing a side body panel to access the heater. Then I need to remove the 5 he...
July 28, 2012 - Inyo National Forest, CA: I know it's been over 8 months since anything has been updated on this website. With the popularity of Facebook, I haven't seen much need to try and keep this website current. Connie is regularly on Facebook with family and friends. While we still get a few visitors to this website, it's only a trickle of guests. However, although much of the information i...
12/31/07: Mittry Lake, Yuma, AZ: Hope you had a happy holiday! Don't send me hate mail because I didn't wish you a "Merry Christmas". Between the various websites I operate, I have about 25,000 visitors a month. I doubt everyone is a Christian and celebrates Christmas. We had a wonderful lunch with Larry's old boss, Gene and Patti Tolle. It's always fun to catch up on what's happening in each othe...
11/15/07: Monterey, CA: After leaving Travis AFB, we stopped in Pleasanton, CA to visit with Bob and Nancy Colvert, more Boomer friends, who are managing a Christmas Tree lot for the holiday season. We dry-camped in their lot, which they're still setting up. We enjoyed a fun little potluck dinner together and catching up on travel stories. We then headed to Monterey, CA, where we're currently loca...
08/21/07: Huntington Lake, Sierra NF, CA: We elected to work this summer at Huntington Lake, CA, partly because it was near Yosemite and the Sequoia's. We visited Yosemite a couple months ago, and took the past couple days to visit the Sequoia National Park. It was another enjoyable "mini" vacation, with dining out and staying in a hotel. We deserve it! The Sequoia trees are HUGE! Although the par...
03/25/07: San Louis Obispo, CA: Today's moving day. We're moving another whopping 45 miles to review a couple military campgrounds. Over the past couple days, we've been exploring the area. While the weather hasn't been great, it didn't stop us from visiting Morro Bay, and viewing Morro Rock. We enjoyed a picnic lunch watching and feeding the squirrels and Seagulls. Yesterday, we ventured further ...
8/31/06: Keystone, SD: Yesterday, our 2nd day off for the week, we just spend around the house relaxing with hobbies. Connie spent most of the day filling the home with tantalizing aromas. She LOVES to cook and play with recipes, and I sure don't mind being her Ginny pig for tasting her creations. Her first batch of home made cinnamon rolls were good, but her 2nd batch are delicious! Although she ...
