10/31/09 - Rachel, NV - Happy Halloween!>We've closed all the campgrounds and are now heading to Arizona. As a change of pace, we decided to go through Nevada instead of California. Since we've never been in this part of Nevada, we decided to go a little out of the way and drive the "Extraterrestrial Highway". This road borders the infamous Area 51. We stopped for the night at the "A'Le'Inn" in...
Our Travel Adventures - Cruising Fulltime
January 25, 2010 - Ortona South Locks, Corps of Engineer, FL: These past couple of months have gone by pretty quick. In December, we rushed from Alabama to Florida to see about purchasing a new motor home. You can read about that experience and decision here. We ordered the Tiffin Phaeton and had to wait for it to be built and delivered. In mid December, our daughter Cynthia (and friend Melanie) f...
I had an affair this weekend with my husband We took off on an impromptu getaway to Big Bear, CA. Visited with our friends Allan & Silvana. Stopped on our way home at some places we always drive by but too busy to stop and explore. One of these placed was Fossil Falls. Now we are home and ready to start our work week. Sigh, I love affairs
March 7, 2010 - Davis Monthan AFB FamCamp, AZ: After having a great time at the Ortona South Locks on the Caloosahatchee River, we knew we needed to start getting out or Florida. We still had many other military campgrounds we wanted to visit for our other website. That was one of the original reasons for making this trip to the Southeast. We started heading North and stopped at the Escapee RV Par...
September 17, 2010 - Jackson Meadow Recreation Area, Tahoe National Forest, CA: I know it's been a very long time since I've updated our travel log. This is mainly that we haven't been traveling, and Connie is now extremely constant being on Facebook. We've been working again this summer in the Tahoe National Forest on northern California. Larry is a Operations Manager (District Manager) and Conni...
November 24, 2011 - Seabreeze RV Park, Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station, CA: Happy Thanksgiving! I had some free time, so thought I'd try to bring you up to date on what we've been doing all year. Yes - we're still living and traveling full time in our new motor home. With summer work and maintaing 8 web sites, I don't have much free time to write on this web site. I mainly keep this site operatio...
July 28, 2012 - Inyo National Forest, CA: I know it's been over 8 months since anything has been updated on this website. With the popularity of Facebook, I haven't seen much need to try and keep this website current. Connie is regularly on Facebook with family and friends. While we still get a few visitors to this website, it's only a trickle of guests. However, although much of the information i...
I wish my brain was functioning a little quicker this morning during my walk. My walking trail takes me through an underpass so I don't have to cross the busy road. The sun hadn't risen yet but it was plenty light enough outside, more so than I was normally starting out in the mornings. As I approached the tunnel I saw a shadowy movement. I stopped, it stopped. I realized that it was a bear. I bac...
While boondocking near Borrego Springs, CA, I had a chance to experiment with my new 3DR Iris+ drone "quadcopter". One of the features of this system is the ability to make a quick "dronie". This is a "selfie" video made by the drone. Larry's brother, Rocky, came in to visit for the afternoon. Luckily, he had the necessary "GoPro" camera, which I haven't yet purchased. We hooked up the camera to t...
Here's a short aerial video of Teslin Lake Government Campground in the Yukon Territory, Canada. I filmed this with my 3DR Iris+ quadcopter (drone), using a GoPro Hero 3+ camera. I'm still learning how to best make these videos. This video was made using a GPS assisted "loiter" mode, which created much of the jitters. The Drone kept wanting to adjust itself to remain in the correct locat...
