Welcome to the Adventures of Larry and Connie Farquhar as we cruise fulltime around the world.

October 2006 Travel Log

10/31/06: Apache Junction, AZ: A few days ago, we moved the short distance to Las Vegas, NV. We stayed at the Nellis AFB campground and (sort of) got lucky. This is a very busy RV park, where reservations are needed to get a FHU site. We arrived and got the last partial site. This site was a bit cramped and had electric and water. The problem was, they share hookups and the 30amp circuit was taken...

Arizona

11/22/06: Apache Junction, AZ: Happy Thanksgiving! We had our holiday dinner yesterday, as it was the best time to get everyone together. Of course, it was another fantastic, traditional turkey dinner. While Connie worked her heart out all day, I think she enjoyed having a full-sized kitchen to work in. At least it made cooking two turkeys easier. We've also recently had friends come into town for...

Cardon Cactus in Mexico

12/31/06: Middle of the Desert, CA: Believe it, or not, but Larry still has that darn cold! Before leaving San Carlos, MX, Bob and Ann took us out to an area in the desert they referred to as the "Enchanted Forest". It's a remote area full of HUGE Cardon cactus. These guys were easily 100' high! We enjoyed the day touring, touring a pearl farm, lunch, and a wonderful shrimp dinner. We enjoyed our ...

July 2007 Travel Log

07/17/07: Huntington Lake, Sierra NF, CA: Time is starting to fly (slip) by now. We can't believe how fast these past two weeks have gone. Perhaps this can be attributed to how busy we've started getting. Weekdays are still mellow, but the weekends are crazy! Our campgrounds have been almost 100% full on the weekends. Since we're also mainly "first come - first serve" on campsite selection, we're ...

Playing Tourists in New Mexico, Part 4

Fort Craig, New Mexico

After arriving at the Caballo State Park, NM, we got the last electric site. However, it was in the "lower" section by the river. We spent a week there, then moved to the "upper" section above the lake. These are much prettier sites with a better view. Our site overlooking the lake. We spent a week in the "lower" section and another week in the "upper" section. With a 14-day stay limit in a s...

August 2007 Travel Log

08/21/07: Huntington Lake, Sierra NF, CA: We elected to work this summer at Huntington Lake, CA, partly because it was near Yosemite and the Sequoia's. We visited Yosemite a couple months ago, and took the past couple days to visit the Sequoia National Park. It was another enjoyable "mini" vacation, with dining out and staying in a hotel. We deserve it! The Sequoia trees are HUGE! Although the par...

November 2007 Travel Log

11/15/07: Monterey, CA: After leaving Travis AFB, we stopped in Pleasanton, CA to visit with Bob and Nancy Colvert, more Boomer friends, who are managing a Christmas Tree lot for the holiday season. We dry-camped in their lot, which they're still setting up. We enjoyed a fun little potluck dinner together and catching up on travel stories. We then headed to Monterey, CA, where we're currently loca...

5 Generations

10/28/2008: Skyline RV Resort, Queen Creek, AZ:Happy Birthday to my lovely wife, Connie! It didn't take long for us to get back into being "grand parents". We baby sat Kaylee the other night. Today, we were woken up early with a frantic call from our daughter to watch Kaylee. The 2 year old has been a bit sick lately and needed to be watched today. Our daughter, Leslie, had already missed enough d...

November 2008 Travel Log

11/19/08: Queen Creek, AZ:  Other than a long day traveling back home, our return trip from Jamaica went without incident. Connie spent some time watching our grand daughter Kaylee. But our return from vacation was well timed, as just a few days after returning our eldest daughter gave birth to our second grand daughter. Welcome to the world Khloe Mae Smith! Her birth went smooth and all is g...

December 2008 Travel Log

Merry Christmas!

12/21/08: Queen Creek, AZ: I've been told that I haven't posted an update on Kaylee's (2 yrs old) surgery. Everything went well and she seems to be happy and active again. Of course, it was a few rough days for her and the parents. Connie and I watched the new baby while Mom and Dad stayed with Kaylee in the hospital. The other big news is Connie finally beat me in a game of racquetball! That make...
