Our Travel Adventures - Cruising Fulltime

Welcome to the Adventures of Larry and Connie Farquhar as we cruise fulltime around the world.

September 2008 Travel Log

09/17/08: Kinnikinnick Campground, Huntington Lake, CA: I realized I never included a photo of our host site at Kinnikinnick campground. In order to get satellite signals, I needed to move the motor home far forward in the site to clear the trees. Our large satellite dish is actually getting an Internet satellite AND a DirecTV satellite. So it has to be clearing trees in two different directions. ...

Huntington Lake Employee Social

08/10/08: Kinnikinnick Campground, Huntington Lake, CA: Business is as usual around here, except we're all starting to get an "end of season" attitude. Because of this, we're holding a pizza party/meeting to re-motivate the employees and remind them to provide quality customer service to the campers. Sure, we're starting to get burned out and are tired of the few troublesome campers, but we can't ...

July 2008 Travel Log

07/31/08: Kinnikinnick Campground, Huntington Lake, CA: This coming November will be our 30th wedding anniversary. We've decided to treat ourselves and splurge. We've made plans to spend a couple weeks in Jamaica. We've never been there and we got a good deal on an all inclusive package. Since we work all summer, winter is our time to have fun. Okay, between the motor home renovation and this...

June 2008 Travel Log

06/22/08: Kinnikinnick Campground, Huntington Lake, CA: About half of the 15 campgrounds, 2 group camps, and 4 day use areas I manage are about 23 miles from Huntington Lake. They are located in deeper wilderness back country we refer to as the "high country". The drive is mostly a narrow one-lane EXTREMELY bumpy road. But the scenery is GORGEOUS! I make this 60 mile round trip drive once a week t...

May 2008 Travel Log

05/28/09: Kinnikinnick Campground, Huntington Lake, CA: I can't believe I forgot to talk about our little trip back to Arizona. Back on May 9th, we took an extended weekend and flew back to Queen Creek, Arizona to attend our youngest daughter Cynthia's college graduation. What was supposed to be a joyous weekend turned out to be the opposite. We arrived on the day of the graduation ceremony. ...

April 2008 Travel Log

04/27/08: Dorabelle NF Campground, Shaver Lake, CA:  A couple days ago, we moved MUCH closer to our final location for workamping this summer. Since there's still too much snow at Huntington Lake and the campground we'll be living at, we're staying about 27 miles away in another Forest Service campground. We're at Dorabelle campground at the the 5000' level. This is another cam...

March 2008 Travel Log

03/23/08: Livingston, TX: Happy Easter! No problems getting our 7th day free at Fort Sam Houston. We then moved toward Livingston and stopped in Katy, TX for the night. The wind was blowing extremely hard and I was ready to get off the road. We spent one night at the Katy Elks lodge and had an electric hook-up. We then continued the next day in strong winds to Livingston. Connie wasn't feeling goo...

February 2008 Travel Log

02/19/08: Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ: While staying at Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek, a remote control glider plane club came in for the weekend. They filled the campground and hundreds of participants and guests came in for the weekend. It appeared to be a large competition. I believe the goal was to launch their gliders (no engines) and keep them flying for the longest time then land in a targeted are...

October 2005 Travel Log

10/31/05: Mary Esther, FL: Happy Halloween! You can tell by the above expenses for the month, it wasn't a cheap month! The constant drive from New York to Florida, with gas prices around $2.90/gal wasn't of much help. Currently, gas is down to $2.42. We can only hope it stays this low, or goes lower by the time we start moving again (slowly). Also, since we're not workamping for a free site, we ha...

December 2005 Travel Log

12/31/05: Panama City, FL: Happy New Year! I hope your past year has been as wonderful as ours. When we started traveling full time, we knew we would be moving slowly and enjoying life along the way. And move slowly, and enjoy life we did. In 2005, we drove the motorhome 9,280 miles visiting 22 different states. We parked our home in 36 different locations, spending from 1 night to 5 months in any...
