Villa Vie Odyssey Ownership/Rental Options
Whenever we mention to someone about our plans to cruise fulltime, the question of ownership or renting a cabin on the ship comes up. Villa Vie Residences has changed their ownership and rental plans a bit over the past year. The prices have also slightly risen in the past 12 months since they started sailing. We purchased our deck 3 porthole cabin while there was a sale, which prompted us to not wait longer.
We don't think having portholes in our cabin is a "bad" thing. The portholes are large and will let the sunlight in. The cabin is only our bedroom and bathroom. The rest of the ship is our dining room, living room, gym, lounge, den, etc. With their generous trade-up option, we might trade-up to a window cabin later on. If we trade-up within a year, we get 100% of our purchase price applied to the new cabin price. We selected a porthole cabin to begin with, because that's what the sale was for. We paid full price for the cabin but got $40,000 in various credits applied to our account. Having a balcony cabin would be nice, but the price is a bit high for us, and the monthly fees are also greater with a balcony cabin.
To sail on the Odyssey, there's a few different options, each with pros and cons. Prices may vary based on single or double occupancy, as well as the type of accommodation selected. Here's a brief description of the various options available. Prices mentioned were in affect as of the time of this writing. Visit the Villa Vie Residences website for current information.
All options are fully inclusive to include 3 meals a day, 2 alcohol drinks (beer or wine) at lunch and 2 at dinner, Wi-Fi, housekeeping with laundry twice a week, all port fees, and ship maintenance and crew expenses. Only the ownership option requires a monthly fee.

Deck 3 Porthole Cabin
Rental
The least cost option is to rent your cabin with no long-term commitment. The ship's itinerary is broken down into "segments". You can rent a cabin for one or more segments. This is all inclusive, with no monthly fees. Pay a one-time fee based on the segment(s), the type of cabin, and if single or double occupancy. This is the option we originally selected for segments 14 and 15 but decided to buy instead.

Outside Window Cabin
Full Ownership
Choose from Inside, Porthole, Ocean View, Balcony, Suite, or Balcony Deluxe. This is the only option that allows you to customize your space, rent it out when you're away, or resell when you're ready for the next chapter. However, this is also the only option that has a monthly maintenance fee. Owners are also awarded 28 days of sailing for friends and family in their own cabin, for free.
There's also a generous "buy-back" guarantee where you can sell your villa back with varying percentages based on ownership duration. A "trade-in" option which allows you to upgrade or switch ships with Villa Vie Residences, with values from 100% in year one to 50% after 10-15 years.
Balcony Suite
Endless Horizons
The Endless Horizons program grants you lifetime access. This program is an unlimited, all-inclusive rental for life. Come and go as you please, with no monthly maintenance fees. However, you're not an "owner" and you don't have the same benefits as an owner.
Deluxe Balcony
Golden Passport
This program is similar to the Endless Horizon option. However, it's currently limited to porthole and ocean view villas (cabins) only. There are no monthly fees and it's also inclusive of all amenities. It's a rental for life option, where you can come and go as you please. The biggest difference is the pricing structure. The Golden Passport prices are based on your cabin type and your age, Lowest price starting at $99,999 for a single aged 90+ in a deck 2 porthole cabin.

Experience life aboard the Odyssey with a 7-day all-inclusive trial stay. Choose an Ocean View or Balcony Villa and discover if this lifestyle is right for you. A trial cruise starts at $2,100 for a 7-day cruise.
